Frequently Asked Questions – Pier 39 Tips

PARKING INFO – PLEASE READ
Pier 39 gets VERY CROWDED for vehicles in the summertime (June-Sept). I recommend either walking, taking a bus,or public transportation to Pier 39. San Francisco is a small city, and often when trying to drive and park by the wharf, the traffic can take 30 minutes to drive just a few blocks. Also, parking can run up to $30.00 a day in areas. You will have a much better time walking to the wharf and leaving the car at the hotel.

Q: Can I get a discount ticket to the aquarium if I see your show?
A: YES! We partner with the Aquarium of the Bay, and our show supports the Bay Institute. When you check in for the show, you will be given a hand stamp or a ticket stub. Just show this at the aquarium before or after the show and you will get a discounted entrance to the aquarium!
Q: Are young children/babies allowed at the show?
A: Yes! Please feel free to bring your child in. We have many new moms bringing in strollers, bassinets, and baby carriers. We do ask that if your child cries loudly, you please respect the other theater goers and step outside for a moment until the child calms down.
Q: Do we need a ticket for our young child?
A: If your child is under 3 years old, no ticket is required.
Q: Where can I park for the show?
A: There are two main areas to park, one is the five floor garage directly across from Pier 39, and currently the parking fee is $8.00 per hour.
My favorite parking spot is a little known spot near Pier 39, it is the Ace Garage. Parking runs about $12-$15 ALL DAY WEEKENDS ONLY. The Garage closes at 9:00pm sharp, so do not leave the car or it will be locked in. Address: 55 Francisco St, San Francisco, CA
If you do park in the tiered five story parking garage across from the Pier 39, be sure to visit the California Welcome Center on the Pier and get a coupon that will get you one free hour of parking!
Q: How early do we need to arrive for the show?
A: Taking into account my parking warning above, please be in the theater NO LATER than 30 minutes before showtime. We open the doors to general seating promptly 30 minutes before showtime.
Q: Where can we eat on the Pier?
A: There are so many choices – for the Pier 39 Fisherman’s Wharf classic “Clam Chowder in a sourdough bread bowl”, there is Boudin’s. For a mid-priced budget, I highly recommend the Fog Harbor Fish House. This is an amazing restaurant with great views and amazing food, but the most impressive is that it is the only sustainable seafood restaurant on Pier 39. I ALWAYS take my personal guests here for meals.
You also have the Hard Rock, The Wipe Out for burgers, etc. Bubba Gumps, etc.
Q: Is there wheelchair access to the theater?
A: Yes! Go past the blue covered escalator, and just up the ramp is an elevator on the right.
